The Truth of Leather — Knowing What You Wear

Leather isn’t just leather. Behind every texture and finish lies a story of quality, character, and time. When you understand leather, you understand why some pieces last a lifetime — and others don’t.
At RADI, we use only Full-Grain Leather, carefully selected and locally tanned in Sri Lanka. Our leathers are vegetable-tanned or semi-vegetable-tanned, using natural plant-based extracts and minimal chemicals. This keeps the leather’s natural soul alive — rich in texture, earthy in scent, and built to age beautifully.
Full-Grain Leather
This is the highest grade of leather — the very top layer of the hide. It retains all its natural grain, marks, and scars, making each piece truly unique.
Full-grain leather is strong, breathable, and develops a deep, rich patina over time — a shine that grows with age and use.
When you touch it, you can feel the truth of the material — raw, organic, and full of life.
Top-Grain Leather
Top-grain leather comes from the same top section of the hide but is lightly sanded to remove natural imperfections.
It looks smoother and more uniform, but in the process, it loses part of its natural texture and durability.
Many luxury brands use top-grain for its neat finish — but for me, perfection means character, not polish.
Genuine Leather
Despite its name, “genuine leather” is the lowest quality of real leather. It’s made from the leftover layers of the hide after the top has been split away.
To make it look appealing, manufacturers often coat it with heavy finishes and artificial grains. It may look fine on the shelf — but it lacks the strength, feel, and soul of true leather.
Why RADI Chooses Full-Grain
Our philosophy is simple — less chemicals, more nature.
Every RADI creation is made from vegetable-tanned or semi-vegetable-tanned full-grain leather that matures with time and use.
Each mark is a memory, each crease a reflection of your journey. This is leather that tells your story — naturally.
